Cris Matthews

Cris grew up near Liverpool in the UK. After inheriting some money, she travelled to Australia in 1980. She loved it so much she’s still here all these decades later. She and her husband moved to Kyogle with their 2-year-old son in 1989. She knits and crochets various things and became a life model about 13 years ago, which she loves. Cris is also a stallholder at the Kyogle Bazaar.

Kevin Markwell

Kevin has lived in the area for 15 years. Recently retired from his position as Professor of Tourism at Southern Cross University, Kevin is also the partnerships manager for Kyogle Readers and Writers Inc, which runs the Kyogle Writers Festival, Literary Allsorts and other events. He believes strongly in the role of arts and other creative endeavours in strengthening communities and attracting visitors.

Carol Harris

Carol moved to Kyogle from Sydney 46 years ago has been involved with KDAC about three decades as well as the Fairymount Festival, Main St Programme, adult education, and she has been a volunteer with the Kyogle Visitors Information Centre for about 15 years. Tourism has been a great interest for her all of her life, having studied this soon after leaving school.

Lynda Clark

Lynda grew up in Kyogle and has lived here most of her life. A Registered Nurse and Midwife, she had her own clothing & art/gift lines business, Figleaf.  She was a ballroom dancing competitor and teacher. Lynda has had a lifelong interest in the arts.  She is currently local group leader of Wraps With Love Inc and Crochet Queens and Knights wot Knit, and Yarnbomber. She is also a philanthropist working actively towards an Emergency Women’s Shelter for Kyogle. 

Janene Pickering 

Janene is a recent arrival to Kyogle. Moving here recently from Melbourne. She has a background in the Visual Arts and Education, with some experience in Victorian Neighbourhood Houses. She is a firm believer in the benefits of building positive community interactions, and she hopes that her involvement with KDAC can reflect this.

Keith Cameron

Keith has lived in Kyogle for 5years and in the greater Northern Rivers area for 38 years. Originally from a farming background in Victoria, he is a practising artist and is now mainly working with sculpture. He has several large, commissioned works in Lismore, Grafton, South West Rocks and Kempsey. He has been a founding member of many art groups both here and in Victoria, ‘Art About’ being one of these. He is very interested in establishing visual arts into the community through groups and exhibitions.

Our committee members, along with any official invited guests, meet monthly for everyday planning and financial decisions. Please get in touch if you would like to attend or have an item brought up.

Members Forums

Members Forums are open to all KDAC members but also anyone who is not yet a member but who wants to come along.

Members Forums are held bimonthly, on the first saturday of the month, at different locations across the Kyogle LGA.
